Life with Kelly before he turns 3

I wanted to jot down some random things about Kelly, and what life is like right now with him. He is a silly boy. I want to have it on record so I can look back and remember how fun he is and how much he is changing.

-         His favorite thing to eat right now are cereal bars. His favorites are Lucky Charms and Golden Grahams. He calls them, bars. “Mom? Bar?”

-         He is obsessed with the Toy Story movies right now. His favorite character is Buzz Lightyear. When he wants to watch Toy Story he asks, “Buzz?”. When we turn it on he gets excited and yells  “BUZZ!”

-         He can say almost every word we tell him to say. His vocabulary has sky rocketed. We always tell him, “Kelly say…. (whatever word).”  One day he was playing with his toys, and I overheard him telling his toys, “Say…. Grandpa! Say….. Nanna! Say…. Apple!”

-         He loves to talk to you. We still don’t understand half of what his toddler jabber is, but we know that he says at least car, truck or tractor in EVERY sentence. Over.. and over again.

-         He still won’t sleep in his bed at night. He will nap in his bed just fine (when he WILL nap), but at night, no way Jose! He will sleep maybe a few hours, and then freak out.

-         

      He sleeps in the bed with me (Shayne snores so loud so he sleeps in the other room) at night (for now – work in progress). Remember how we got a brand new awesome king size bed? Yeah, Kelly takes up the ENTIRE bed. I end up squashed to the side of the bed, and he still manages to try to shove me right off. I have to move him over at least 4-5x during the night.

-         We had to take 90% of the furniture out of his room because he was tipping it all over (glider chair, changing table, etc..), or throwing things at his bedroom door

-         He is not scared of the bath tub anymore. HALLEJULAH! He loved the bath, but went through a weird phase for a few months where he was terrified of the bath, and Shayne had to sit in the tub with him in order for me to bathe him.

-         He still LOVES being outside. It is his favorite place to spend all of his time.

-         He loves to push our kitchen chairs around the kitchen, and mess with items on the counters. He managed to empty all of our spices out of our spice rack, drank some children’s Tylenol, he always grabs all the clean dishes by the sink and puts them in the sink and plays with them in the water, and has wasted a lot of hand soap. Needless to say, he is watched at ALL times now. Not that he wasn’t before, but he was a master and could destroy things within a few minutes.

-         He has entered the phase where he is pushing buttons and testing limits. If you tell him not to do something, he gets a certain smirk on his face, looks at  you and keeps doing it. He doesn’t listen unless we get REALLY mad. At that point he falls to the floor and pouts, or grabs his blanket and hides. We are also working on the word sorry, and when its necessary or appropriate. If he gets spanked, he wants a hug before he says sorry. That boy!

-         To give kisses he sticks out his bottom lip, and tilts his head toward you.

-         He asks where Derek  is or if he can see Derek at least once a day

-         Sometimes when he trips and falls, he stands up and says, “I’m okay!”

-         He is still really mean to Allie (hits her, pulls her fur, etc…). We are working on that one still. He thinks he is playing with her. Good thing she lets people walk all over her or else Kelly would have been bit a long time ago.

-         He calls the vacuum the ‘reet’. Not sure why he calls it that, but any vacuum or carpet cleaner is known as the ‘reet’

-         In the morning he tells you he wants to get dressed

-         He tells you when he peed or pooped and is proud of it (praying we can have success with potty training soon. Again.)

-         He loves tractors

-         He can name all of his colors and has fun doing it

-         He enjoys hats and likes to wear them

-         He LOVES candy (he is a Hiatt!). He also loves cheese (he is my son).

-         When we go out we have certain things we order for him. Example – at Texas Roadhouse when we order a salad, we ask for the cheese on the side.  When we get our salads, Kelly gets all of the cheese and the croutons. He also gets a loaded sweet potato. He is very picky and rarely eats, so if we find something that works, we stick to it. Trust me, we have weird combinations and routines when it comes to that.

-         Whenever we are about to go somewhere, he will tell Shayne or I, “Let’s go!”

-         We have to lock the cars in the garage because he sneaks out and plays in the cars now

-         He likes to help start the dishwasher, washer and dryer

-         If he doesn’t like you picking on him, he gets a stern face and says, “DON’T!” followed by a nasty stare down.

-         He wants to do everything Shayne does

-         He still doesn’t understand there is a baby in my tummy. But we tell him about it daily. He loves babies and when he sees a baby he instantly says, “Mom! Baby!”

-         He tells us to say prayer at dinner time. He says, “Mom. Dad. Prayer” and folds his arms, closes his eyes, and bows his head

I think that sums it up for now. Yes, he can be naughty at times, but he makes us laugh on a daily basis, and we love him more and more every day. I don’t know what life would be like without him. He is our complete world. We love our Boogie Boy and are thankful he is ours. We love our son more than words can say.
